UPLAND HERITAGE is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging the appreciation and maintenance of structures built within the Upland community before 1966. Proceeds from the Upland Heritage biannual Vintage Home Tours and the annual Concerts under the Stars fund this Grant Program to aid and support owners of historic homes that are 50 years old and older.
UPLAND HERITAGE is pleased to announce that $5,000 will be awarded towards the 2016 RESTORATION GRANTS. Since 2006 Upland Heritage has granted $64,000 dollars to the community.
Grants, up to a maximum of $1,000 each, will be awarded for up to 50% of the restoration or repair cost on a selected project. $5,000 will be awarded in 2016. All grant funds will be awarded on a reimbursement basis upon project completion and submission of receipts documenting the restoration work. It is desirable that all work be completed within six months of the award, but due to weather and availability of craftsman and materials, extensions are often necessary and will be issued upon request.
Applications are available to anyone who has a project to improve a structure in the City of Upland built prior to 1966 with an Upland postal address. Applicants do not have to be members of Upland Heritage. Projects under consideration may include exterior or interior restoration and repair. Structural restoration will receive the highest priority, but maintenance projects such as painting and roofing will be considered as well. However, the purpose of this Grant Program is to encourage restoration, and not to fund modernization. Applications should be limited to one selected project, but more than one application is permitted. It is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain all necessary building permits where applicable. Applications will be available beginning September 12016 Upland Heritage Restoration Grant Application, 2016 at Upland City Hall and Upland Public Library.
Applications must be completed and returned to UPLAND HERITAGE, P.O. BOX 1828, Upland, CA 91785 or emailed to D.DukeRomo@Live.Com no later than Monday, OCTOBER 31, 2016. You can download the application here: uplandheritage.org
Within one month of the application submission deadline, a panel of qualified individuals from outside Upland Heritage and the Upland area will review the applications and make on-site visits to select the projects to be funded. Upland Heritage will announce the results at the December Board meeting and respond to all applicants by December 16, 2016.
Upland Heritage requests that photographs be taken before and after the restoration. These photographs will be used to document the grant awards and may be used for future illustration of the Grant Program.
